Narrative Paragraph

My introduction to the world of science

I never paid much attention to science class as a high school student, but gradually, I became more and more  invested in this subject. So much so, that by the time I was deeply interested in science, I was no longer studying anything related to it, and thus, no educator was near to fuel my intrigue in science. So there was me, amidst the discomfort of not knowing what to do, little that I knew, all I was looking for was about to come along. In my everyday life, I surf the internet consuming all kind of content. I often listen to people ranting about the many eventualities happening with today’s society; trends, news, events, new ideas, the list goes on and on. One day, a trending new started to appear on my social media’s news feed; the remake of a series called “Cosmos” was about to premiere on television. At that time, I did not know what the fuss was all about, but it really called my attention the fact that everybody was talking about this same topic. As it happened, this series turned out to be the greatest show for science wonderers like me! And as if that was not convenient enough, a much greater thing this show brought along, was its host Neil deGrasse Tyson. Dr. Tyson is the greatest science communicator there is around, and easily became a person to look up to. As I was trying to reach all I could for this fellow, I became aware of the many outlets there are to learn about science. I came across podcasts, interviews, lectures, and conferences all held by Dr. Tyson. All this material has deepened my knowledge of science, and I am sure it is going to be like that for the years to come.

Descriptive Paragraph

Ideal Classroom Environment
My ideal classroom environment is based on a series of values that one as a professor ought to inculcate to the students. The first value that must be established in the classroom is trustiness. A sense of trust will encourage a student to not be shy, ask the necessary questions, and not to be afraid of being wrong. For this, I as a professor will take the time to know each of my students and try to understand them. The second value the students need to be taught is caring for what they do. A student neglected to study will not contribute to the learning process. So, in order to boost student’s performance, what I will do is to show them every reason why it is important to excel in every situation they are in. This is not just useful in class, but in life in general. Once the students have tools learnt in class they can apply in real life, it will be easier for them to understand topics and have the topics to stick. As for the third value a want students to have, is freedom. This is important because once we understand that freedom means working in a way that satisfies me and those among me, really impacts productivity in the most positive manner. Therefore, when all this conditions are met, I would say that the perfect communion between the professor and the alumni has been reached.
